This is a cold weather dish but I like it so much I cook it year round.Serve warm with good vanills ice cream or fresh whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced , peeded apples
  • 2 cups sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 1/2 cups self rising flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (may need more)
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/2 cup raisins optional

How To Make karen's apple cobbler

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 COMBINE THE APPLES , CINNAMON,NUTMEG, APPLE PIE SPICE AND RAISINS OPTIONAL, TO THE SIDE. YOU CAN ADD OTHER FRUITS WITH THE APPLES. MAKE SURE YOU HAFE THE FRUIT. PUT 1 CUP SUGAR AND WATER IN A SAUCEPAN AND MIX WELL.BRING TO A BOIL AND SIMMER FOR 10 MINUTES.Remove from the heat.
  • Step 2
    PUT THE BUTTER IN A 3-QUART BAKING DISH AND PLACE IN OVEN TO MELT.
  • Step 3
    MIX REMAINING 1 CUP SUGAR, FLOUR, ANG MILK SLOWLY TO PREVENT CLUMPING ( YOU CAN ALSO ADD SOME CINNAMON IN BATTER, OPTIONAL). POUR MIXTURE OVER MELTED BUTTER. DO NOT STIR. POUR APPLES ON TOP.CARFULLY POUR IN SUGAR SYRUP.
  • Step 4
    SPRINKLE TOP WITH MORE CINNAMON, OPTIONAL. THE BATTER WILL COME TO THE TOP AS IT COOKS
  • Step 5
    BAKE AT 350 FOR 30 TO 45 MINUTES
