This recipe was in a cookbook Grandma received when she got married in 1958

Ingredients

  • 4 cups peeled, sliced macintosh or honey crisp apples
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • - dash salt

How To Make grandma's apple betty

  • Step 1
    Mound apples in buttered 9 inch pie plate. Sprinkle with orange juice.
  • Step 2
    Combine sugar, flour, spices and salt in a medium bowl. Cut in butter till mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 375 dgrees for 45 minutes or till apples are tender and topping is crisp. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
