Ingredients

APPLE FILLING

4 Tbsp
sugar
2 tsp
cinnamon

medium tart apples, chopped

SAUCE TO POUR OVER FOR COOKING

1/2 c
sugar
1 Tbsp
flour
1/2 tsp
salt
1 c
hot water

How to Make Grandma Roland's Apple Dumplings

Step-by-Step

  • 1Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add soft butter and milk to make soft dough. Roll into a rectangle.
  • 2Cover dough with chopped apples and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. dot with butter. Roll up and cut into 1 inch slices. Place cut side down in a buttered 9x9 baking dish.
  • 3Bring to boil the sugar, flour, salt and hot water. Pour over the rolls and bake @ 375 degrees for 35-45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream.

    The liquid will be absorbed by the rolls and make a beautiful sauce.
