Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • APPLE FILLING
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 4 - medium tart apples, chopped
  • SAUCE TO POUR OVER FOR COOKING
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup hot water

How To Make grandma roland's apple dumplings

  • Step 1
    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add soft butter and milk to make soft dough. Roll into a rectangle.
  • Step 2
    Cover dough with chopped apples and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. dot with butter. Roll up and cut into 1 inch slices. Place cut side down in a buttered 9x9 baking dish.
  • Step 3
    Bring to boil the sugar, flour, salt and hot water. Pour over the rolls and bake @ 375 degrees for 35-45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream. The liquid will be absorbed by the rolls and make a beautiful sauce.
