  • 1 c
    flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • APPLE FILLING

  • 4 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 4
    medium tart apples, chopped
  • SAUCE TO POUR OVER FOR COOKING

  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    hot water

How to Make Grandma Roland's Apple Dumplings

Step-by-Step

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add soft butter and milk to make soft dough. Roll into a rectangle.
  2. Cover dough with chopped apples and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. dot with butter. Roll up and cut into 1 inch slices. Place cut side down in a buttered 9x9 baking dish.
  3. Bring to boil the sugar, flour, salt and hot water. Pour over the rolls and bake @ 375 degrees for 35-45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream.

    The liquid will be absorbed by the rolls and make a beautiful sauce.
