fruit salad with french creme (sallye)

This is an easy to make impressive dessert to serve in individual dishes. Sometimes on catering gigs, we used champagne glasses for the presentation. Or you can let each person help themself from the larger salad bowl. Note: Prep time includes chiling for an hour in fridge.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint fresh blueberries
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries
  • FRENCH CREME INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

How To Make fruit salad with french creme (sallye)

  • Step 1
    Wash and drain strawberries. Remove stems, cut in half (optional) and transfer to glass salad bowl Wash and drain blueberries. Place in bowl with strawberries
  • Step 2
    TO MAKE FRENCH CREME:

    Place whipping cream in chilled mixing bowl and beat until foamy.
  • Step 4
    Gradually add powdered sugar while continuing to beat. Beat until soft peaks form.
  • Step 5
    Gently fold in softened sour cream and orange zest.
  • Step 6
    Chill at least an hour before serving. Pour French creme over berries when ready to serve.
  • Step 7
    Options: You can sprinkle a few chocolate curls or toasted coconut over for garnish.
