Back when fruit pizzas first became popular, I decided to make one and I just tweaked my regular pizza crust recipe, not even realizing that usually fruit pizzas are made with a sugar cookie crust. We like it better this way!

prep time 1 Hr 30 Min
cook time 10 Min

yield 6 - 8

Ingredients

  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • - sliced fruit (strawberries, blueberries, grapes, kiwi, etc...)

How To Make fruit pizza

  • Step 1
Combine first five ingredients in a large mixing bowl, stir well then allow to stand for five minutes.
  • Step 2
Gradually add and knead in remaining flour until dough is no longer sticky. Place dough into a well oiled mxing bowl, and cover with a cloth. Allow dough to rise until doubled; approximately 1 hour.
  • Step 3
Gently punch down dough. Press into lightly greased pizza pan. Using a fork, gently stab all over the pizza dough (this prevents the dough from rising too much during baking). Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • Step 4
Allow cream to soften to room temperature (or soften using a microwave). Mix in sugar (to taste) and vanilla. Spread over COOLED pizza crust.
  • Step 5
Top with sliced fruit of your choice. This fruit pizza is tastes best after it has been allowed to cool in the refrigerator for several hours.
