Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or light butter,divided
  • 4 cups apples,peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1/4 cup rum or apple juice
  • 2/3 cup sugar or splenda sugar, divided
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup blanced almonds or another nuts,finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup allpurpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt or light salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make french apple crisp

  • Step 1
    Melt 1/4 cup butter in large skillet over medium heat. Sauté apple in butter until tender, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; pour rum or apple juice over apple.
  • Step 2
    Stir in 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon. Let stand 30 minutes. Measure almonds or another nuts, flour, remaining sugar and salt into a bowl. Cut in remaining butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resemble coarse meal. Add vanilla.
  • Step 3
    Evenly spread apple mixture in greased 2 quart casserole dish or individual ramekins. Sprinkle half of the flour mixture over the apples.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 400F degrees for 15 minutes. Sprinkle remaining flour mixture on top. Bake an additional 15 minutes, or until golden. Serve warm. Serve 10-12.
