This is a dessert that I think originated in Europe. A former neighbor gave me this recipe. She said that her Mother-in-law gave it to her.

2 cups flour
3/4 cup vegetable shortening
2 egg yolks
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tps. baking powder
6 tbsp. strawberry jam
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cinnamon
1 cup chopped nuts

1Mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut in shortening until crumbly.
2Mix orange juice and egg yolks together and add to flour mixture with a fork. Form into 2 balls, wrap, and chill for a few hours.
3Place 1 ball on a floured board and roll out as thinly as possible into a rectangle.
4Spread 1/2 jam on bottom third of dough. Combine nuts, cinnamon, and sugar and sprinkle 1/2 mixture over entire rectangle and roll like a jelly roll
5Repeat with second ball. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Score top about every 1/2 inch.
6Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes.
Slice while still warm.
