Ingredients

orange juice
1/4 c
apple juice
1 tsp
ground cinnamon
1 tsp
ground nutmeg
4
whole pears
1/2 c
fresh raspberries
2 Tbsp
orange zest

How to Make Diabetic-Friendly Perfectly Poached Pears

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a small bowl, mix together orange juice, apple juice, ground cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • 2Stir ingredients until evenly mixed and set aside.
  • 3Peel pears, leaving the stems.
  • 4Remove the core from the bottom of the pear.
  • 5Place pears in a shallow sauce pan.
  • 6Pour juice mixture over pears into pan and set over medium-heat.
  • 7Simmer pears for 30 minutes, turning frequently.
  • 8DO NOT BRING LIQUID TO A BOIL!
  • 9Transfer pears to individual serving plates.
  • 10Garnish plates with raspberries and orange zest.
  • 11Serve immediately and enjoy!
