this is the old way my grandmother used to do this dessert it is one of our many favorites

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled, cleaned and sliced
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/3 cup milk

How To Make crock pot strawberry and dumplings

  • Step 1
    Place the strawberries and equal parts sugar and water in a 2-3 quart slow cooker. Cover with lid and cook on high for 2-1/2 hours. Before cooking for 2-1/2 hours add the dumpling mixture to it.
  • Step 2
    After cooking for this long you will see the strawberries are breaking down and the mixture has thickened up.
  • Step 3
    At this point you add the butter and stir to give it a silky, creamy texture.
