- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour (all purpose)
- 2 cups oatmeal
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar

- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup butter, melted
- ORANGE GLAZE
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons orange juice
How To Make cranberry date bars
-
Step 1In a medium saucepan combine cranberries and dates. Cook, covered, over low heat for 10-15 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Set aside.
-
Step 2In a large mixing bowl stir together flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir in margarine or butter until well blended. Pat half of oatmeal mixture on the bottom of a 9x13x2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
-
Step 3Carefully spread filling over baked oatmeal mixture. Sprinkle remaining oatmeal mixture on top. Pat gently. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes.
-
Step 4Cool on wire rack. In a mixing bowl, stir together the powdered sugar, vanilla, and orange juice to a drizzling consistency. Drizzle with the Orange Glaze: cut into bars. Makes 32 bars.
