The dishes I make are rarely identical from time to time; I use whatever ingredients I have on hand, and rarely have the "correct" amounts. This apple crisp may be made with more or less of EACH ingredient; the flour and the brown sugar may be packed or loose depending upon how sweet you want the desert to be. I made this in mini-cupcake tins, baking for only 25 minutes and had pop-in-your-mouth versions.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 cups sliced apples (tart, like granny smith, prefered)
  • 1/4-1/3 cup butter (preferably salted)
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • optional - cinnamon, ground

How To Make completely adjustable apple crisp

  • Step 1
Put sliced apples into baking dish...8"x8" or other size, greased or ungreased depending upon the bakeware. Be fussy and lay them out neatly...or not.
  • Step 2
You may add cinnamon as you combine brown sugar, softened butter, and flour. Mixture should be crumbly.
  • Step 3
Sprinkle crumbles atop the apples. Sprinkle cinnamon, if you choose to do so.
  • Step 4
Bake at 350 (and fight off the family whose noses are filling with the fantastic fragrance wafting through the house) for about 1 hour. NOTE: If you divide the recipe and use 2 smaller baking dishes or souffle bowls, decrease the time appropriately!
