Ingredients
- 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring drops
- 4 to 5 - apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup crisco shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Step 1Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Ina small saucepan, boil the 1 cup sugar,water,and food coloring until it tickens to a syrup. Place the apples in a greased 8by12 inch pan,

Step 2In large bowl sift together the dry ingredients and cut in shortening. Add the milkmenought to make a soft dough. Drop the dough by spoonfuls on top of the apples and make a dent in the top of each mound.

Step 3In small bowl,combine the butter, 2 tablespoons sugar,and cinnamon. Place some cinnamon-sugar mixture in each dent. Bake for 25 to minutes. Serve warm with cool whip or ice cream.
