When my hair stylist of many years mentioned what she had brought to a family 4th of July picnic, I knew I had to try it. It sounded like something a family member of mine used to bring to family reunions in the 1970s and 1980s, back when I was too shy to ask for recipes. Hard to believe, right? So make a batch of this for your next family gathering. Someone might be wishing to have it again. It tastes like the 70s!

  • 1 large can sliced peaches and juice
  • 1 regular can pineapple chunks and juice
  • 1 regular can mandarin oranges and juice
  • 1 small jar stemless maraschino cherries—no juice
  • 1 large box instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 or 2 bananas, sliced

How To Make christina’s mom’s fruit salad

  • Step 1
Drain the juices into a large bowl and whisk in the dry pudding mix. Add all of the fruits, EXCEPT the banana slices. Full disclosure: I stirred together everything, except the bananas, and it was fine.
