I was recently at a local cherry orchard and they had these delicious bars for sale. The bar was so good, that I asked the owner about how to make it and she sent me this recipe. Thanks to Jamie at Steffen's Cherry Orchard, Whitewater, WI.

Ingredients

1/2 pound butter (2 sticks)
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon almond extract
4 - eggs
3 cups flour
3 cups cherry pie filling

How To Make cherry squares

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar. Add extracts. Beat in one egg at a time. Add flour.

Step 2

spread half of batter into a jelly roll pan (approx. 12x17 inches)
Step 3

Cover batter with cherries. Put dollops of remaining batter on top of the cherries. Bake 45 minutes at 350ºF.
