Ingredients
- 1 can red sour pitted cherries
- 1.5 tablespoons cornstarch
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- TOPPING INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
- 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
How To Make cherry crisp

Step 1Drain cherries, reserving 3/4 cup juice.

Step 2Combine small amount of juice, cornstarch and sugar in saucepan.

Step 3Stir in remaining juice.

Step 4Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly until thickened and clear.

Step 5Remove from heat.

Step 6Add cherries and extract.

Step 7Spread in 8-inch pan.

Step 8Topping: Preheat oven to 375.

Step 9Mix oats and walnuts in small bowl.

Step 10Add margarine; mix well with fork--mixture will be crumbly.

Step 11Sprinkle topping over cherries.

Step 12Bake for 20 minutes or until topping is browned.

Step 13Serve warm or chilled.
