red sour pitted cherries
1.5 Tbsp
4 tsp
1/4 tsp
almond extract


1/2 c
quick cooking oats
2 Tbsp
chopped walnuts
1 Tbsp
butter, melted

How to Make Cherry Crisp


  • 1Drain cherries, reserving 3/4 cup juice.
  • 2Combine small amount of juice, cornstarch and sugar in saucepan.
  • 3Stir in remaining juice.
  • 4Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly until thickened and clear.
  • 5Remove from heat.
  • 6Add cherries and extract.
  • 7Spread in 8-inch pan.
  • 8Topping: Preheat oven to 375.
  • 9Mix oats and walnuts in small bowl.
  • 10Add margarine; mix well with fork--mixture will be crumbly.
  • 11Sprinkle topping over cherries.
  • 12Bake for 20 minutes or until topping is browned.
  • 13Serve warm or chilled.
