Ingredients
- CRUST
- 1 1/2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup butter flavor shortening
- FILLING
- 2 - 8 oz packages of cream cheese
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 - 21 oz can cherry pie filling
- TOPPING
- 1/2 cup walnuts, coursely chopped
How To Make cherry chewbilees

Step 1HEAT oven to 350. GREASE a 9x13 inch pan with butter flavored shortening.

Step 2CRUST: Combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in shortening until fine crumbs form. Add finely chopped walnuts. Press crumb mixture into the bottom of baking dish. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes until edges are lightly browned.

Step 3FILLING: Beat cream cheese, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a small bowl. Mix with electric mixer until smooth. Spread over hot baked crust. Bake 15 minutes longer.

Step 4Remove from oven and allow to cool a bit and finish setting up. Spread cherry pie filling over the cheese layer. Sprinkle coursely chopped walnuts over the top. Refrigerate for several hours. Cut into bars.
