I found this recipe online about three years ago, but it needed "tweaking"... Now that I have it exactly like I wanted it, I am happy to share this with you! I shared this recipe with a cooking discussion group I am a member of on Web TV...They loved it! Be sure and serve this warm with plenty of vanilla ice cream!

Ingredients

  • 5 medium
    granny smith apples, peeled & cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 c
    light brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c
    white granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon (feel free to use 2 if you love cinnamon!)
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 large
    egg, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, melted

How to Make Cathy's Apple Crisp

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Peel, core & slice apples. Spray a 9" X 13" inch baking dish.
  2. Mix sliced apples and brown sugar until well coated. Place in prepared baking dish. In a bowl, mix together the flour, white sugar, cinnamon and salt. In a small bowl, beat together the melted butter and the egg. Stir into the flour mixture until it reaches a crumbly consistency. Spread evenly over apples. Bake in preheated oven (375 degrees) for 30 to 40 minutes or until the topping is golden and crisp.
  3. Serve hot (or warm) with a nice dollop of vanilla ice cream.
