I found this recipe online about three years ago, but it needed "tweaking"... Now that I have it exactly like I wanted it, I am happy to share this with you! I shared this recipe with a cooking discussion group I am a member of on Web TV...They loved it! Be sure and serve this warm with plenty of vanilla ice cream!

Ingredients

  • 5 medium granny smith apples, peeled & cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (feel free to use 2 if you love cinnamon!)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

How To Make cathy's apple crisp

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Peel, core & slice apples. Spray a 9" X 13" inch baking dish.
  • Step 2
Mix sliced apples and brown sugar until well coated. Place in prepared baking dish. In a bowl, mix together the flour, white sugar, cinnamon and salt. In a small bowl, beat together the melted butter and the egg. Stir into the flour mixture until it reaches a crumbly consistency. Spread evenly over apples. Bake in preheated oven (375 degrees) for 30 to 40 minutes or until the topping is golden and crisp.
  • Step 3
Serve hot (or warm) with a nice dollop of vanilla ice cream. Bon Apetit' Y'all
