An easy recipe with a WOW Factor of 10! This is an up-dated version of recipe that my Mom and Grandmother made for us. I make it on occasion to send down to the Moose Lodge when the women are playing cards and they rave about it.

Makes 16 dumplings
Ingredients
- - 2 large granny smith apples, peeled and cored
- - 2 (10 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
- - 1 cup butter
- - 3/4 cup white sugar
- - 3/4 cup brown sugar
- - 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- - 1 teaspoon vinilla extract
- - 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle mountain dew
- - mix an additional 1/4 cup white sugar & 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in small shallow dish to dip apple slices before wraping
How To Make capt. rick's country apple dumplings

Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Step 2Cut each apple into 8 wedges and set asidein a bowl of cold water. Separate 1 can of the the crescent roll dough into triangles. Dab an apple wedge on a paper towel and roll in the sugar/cinnimon mix. Roll each apple wedge in crescent roll dough starting at the smallest end. Pinch to seal and place in the baking dish

Step 3Melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in the white & brown sugar, bring to a boil while stiring and cook for 3 minutes. Remoce from the heat and stir in the vinilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. Spoon all the sauce evenly over the apple dumplings. Pour Mountain Dew in between the rows of dumplings not over the top of the dumplings

Step 4Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown
