This is another recipe from my cookbook "Flavors of Cape Cod" (Grunt is Cape Cod name for steamed pudding) It was submitted by Shirley Canning ~

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • - dash of salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup milk

How To Make blueberry grunt (dumplings) flavors of cape cod

  • Step 1
    Bring first 4 ingredients to boiling. Cover and simmer 5 minutes. Add Lemon juice.
  • Step 2
    Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in butter until like coarse meal. Add milk all at once, Stirring only until flour is dampened. Drop batter from tip of tablespoon into bubbling sauce, making six dumplings. Don't let them overlap. Cover tightly.
  • Step 3
    Cook over low heat 10 minutes without peeking. Serve hot. Serves 6
