Since blueberries are in season here's an old recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup crisco shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg beaten
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup drained blueberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter

How To Make blueberry buckle

  • Step 1
    Cream shortening in bowl, add 1/2 cup sugar and egg Mix well. Sift 2 cups flour with salt and baking powder. add this to creamed shortening mixture. alternately with milk.
  • Step 2
    Pour into greased 9inch round cake pan, sprinkle blueberries over batter. Combine remaining sugar, remaining flour and cinnamon in small bowl.
  • Step 3
    cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives,until crumbly. Sprinkle over top of blueberries. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until cake is done.
