One of my personal favorites. This is my mother's recipe, and it is best served with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
- 5 cups (5-6) granny smith apples
How To Make betty's apple crisp

Step 1Mix sugar, flour, spices and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.

Step 2Peal, core and slice apples.

Step 3Spread apples over the bottom of buttered 8 or 9 inch square baking pan.

Step 4Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples. Pat lightly with fingers.

Step 5Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender.
