This is a dessert commonly served in the Caribbean Islands and Central America. And it's quite easy to prepare, and so delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 large bananas
  • 1 large lime, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon dark rum
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream (or 2 tablespoons of fresh cream)
  • - shredded coconut, for garnish (optional)
  • - chopped nuts, for garnish (optional)

How To Make baked bananas

  • Step 1
    Preheat the oven to 400°F. Butter a 9x13x2-inch ovenproof baking dish; set aside.
  • Step 2
    Peel the bananas and slice in half lengthwise. Lay the pieces in a single layer in the buttered baking dish.
  • Step 3
    Pour the lime juice and rum evenly over the bananas. Sprinkle on the cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Dot on the butter, if using.
  • Step 4
    Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Serve hot, topped with ice cream, and garnish with shredded coconut and/or chopped nuts.
