I have fond memories of my Nana making baked apples. Every fall I go to the local orchards and pick apples so that I can enjoy all the wonderful recipes I have collected using apples.

Ingredients

  • 6 large baking apples
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cups water

How To Make baked apples

  • Step 1
    Wash and core apples. Arrange apples in a baking dish. Mix raisins and nuts and pack into center of apples. Combine butter, brown sugar and lemon juice. Pour mixture into and over apples. Add water to baking dish. Bake in 350 degree oven 45 to 60 minutes, basting with syrup in pan. Spoon syrup over apples before serving.

    I like mine with vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream.
