Baked stuffed apples. I usually make these as is, but sometimes I'll wrap crescent roll dough around the apples to make an apple dumpling.

Ingredients

  • 6 fig-filled bar cookies, crumbled (such as Fig Newtons)
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 6 large Rome apples, peeled and cored
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange rind

How To Make baked apples with figs

  • Step 1
Combine the first 3 ingredients in a small bowl. Stir well and let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
Place the apples upright in an 11 x 7 x 1 1/2-inch baking dish. Spoon the cookie mixture evenly into each apple.
  • Step 3
Combine the sugar, boiling water, and butter. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the orange rind. Pour the sugar mixture over the apples.
