Ingredients

  • 6 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (see notes)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger or ginger paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon water (see notes)

How To Make baked apples

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or an equivalent-sized baking dish for easier cleanup.
  • Step 2
    Toss the sliced apples in a large bowl with lemon juice, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cardamom. Sprinkle with the sea salt and corn starch and toss to coat again.
  • Step 3
    Spread the apples in the prepared baking dish. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Remove the foil, stir in 1-2 tablespoons of water, and cook for another 10-15 minutes or until your desired tenderness.
