This is an old family recipe. Mom's cousin, Mae, was known to be an excellent cook and baker. Everyone was thrilled to be invited to her home for a meal. This is one of her signature desserts!

Ingredients
- 3 cups tart apples, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter, cut in cubes
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (my addition)
- 1/3 cup quick cooking tapioca
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups water
- - lemon juice, 1-2 tbsp.
How To Make baked apple tapioca

Step 1Arrange apples in greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Step 2Combine remaining ingredients in medium saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil.

Step 3Pour hot mixture over apples in baking dish. Cover and bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 25 minutes or until apples are tender.

Step 4Remove from oven and stir. Serve warm with cream poured over or ice cream by the side.
