Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, divided
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 3-4 large apples
  • 2 large pears
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped

How To Make autumn fruit crisp

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375ºF. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Step 2
    In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, oats, brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Add butter and mix with a fork until crumbly.
  • Step 3
    In a small bowl, mix together granulated sugar, salt, nutmeg, remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and cornstarch; set aside.
  • Step 4
    Peel, core, and slice apples and pears; add to a large bowl. Add lemon juice and walnuts. Mix in sugar mixture; gently stir to mix well.
  • Step 5
    Pour into prepared baking dish, spreading to level fruit.
  • Step 6
    Add flour mixture on top of fruit, and spread to cover evenly.
  • Step 7
    Bake uncovered until fruit is bubbly and topping is lightly brown, approx. 40 minutes.
