- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons corn starch
- 1/2 - 3/4 cups coarsley chopped walnuts
How To Make apple / walnut casserole
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Put sliced apples into a 2 - 2 1/2 quart casserole dish.
-
Step 2Mix 3/4 cup water, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon and salt in a saucepan and heat (medium heat) until butter melts. ( I used 3/4 cup brown sugar as I used Granny Smith apples).
-
Step 3Mix cornstarch with 1/4 cup water and stir until smooth. Stir this gradually into the sugar mixture and bring to a boil.
-
Step 4Remove from heat and pour over the apples.
-
Step 5Stir in walnuts, cover and bake until apples are soft, about 45 minutes. Time may vary, depending on variety of apples used.
-
Step 6Serve warm, room temperature or cold. Delicious topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
