I eat these just like you eat an apple, pick it up and bite right into it!

prep time 10 Min
cook time 25 Min
method ---
yield 4 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 4 large granny smith apples
  • 20 ounces apple pie filling
  • 11/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 package pilisbury rolled pie crust ( all you need is one of the 2 crusts)
  • dash sugar ( just to sprinkle on top of apples before you put in oven)

How To Make apple pie in a apple

  • Step 1
    preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Step 2
cut the tops of the apples off and scoop out the inside of the apples. i used a paring knife and a small spoon to hollow it out.
  • Step 3
mix the pie filling and the cinnamon. spoon the filling into the well of each apple.
  • Step 4
cut the pie crust into 4 sections, one for each apple. then cut each quater into 1/4-inch strips
  • Step 5
lay strips of dough on top of the apple. then take a new strip and alternate weaving over and under the pie strips already in place. keep doing this until apple is covered, trim excess crust around edges. sprinkle sugar on top.
  • Step 6
place apples in a baking dish and fill with water about a 1/4-inch up. bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. remove and enjoy.
