I had some apple that I needed to do something with so I got in the kitchen and started just adding things together and this is what I came up with and they are great. You just wanted to pop one in your mouth every time you walked by the platter.

    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 3/4 - 1 c
    self rising flour
  • ·
    pinch of salt
  • 1 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • ·
    oil for frying

How to Make Apple Fitters


  1. Peel and grate apples and toss in lemon juice. Add all ingredients except flour. Mix well with a spoon. Add flour mix well. Drop a tablespoon of batter into hot oil and fry until brown turning as needed. Drain on rack. Put confectioners sugar in brown paper bag and while fritters are still warm drop 3 or 4 into bag and shake to coat the fritter with sugar or just sift sugar over fritters.
