- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 - apples, granny smith (not delicious)
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening (lard)

How To Make apple dumplins
-
Step 1Make syrup, using sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg and butter...bring to a boil for about a minute, set aside.
-
Step 2Pare and core apples, cut as to your choice.
-
Step 3Prepare crust: Mix flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening. Add water... or... use 1 crust recipe for your favorite recipe.
-
Step 4Roll 1/4" thick (I made 4 dumplins). Arrange apples on each crust, sprinkle generously w/ additional sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Dot w/ butter. Fold diagonal corners to center. Pinch edges together. Place 1" apart in greased baking pan.
-
Step 5Pour syrup over it. Bake at 375 for 35 minutes. Watch closely.....The syrup can get VERY thick....
-
Step 6Serve hot w/ ice cream.....Enjoy!!!
