Ingredients
- 1 - pastry for 2 pie crusts
- 6 - apples, peeled and cored
- SYRUP INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups water
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- FILLING INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1.5 teaspoons nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- - vanilla ice cream
How To Make apple dumpling

Step 1Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees.

Step 2Roll pastry slightly less than 1/8\" thick.

Step 3Cut into seven inch squares.

Step 4Bring syrup ingredients to boil.

Step 5Boil 3 minutes.

Step 6Put apple on center of each pastry square.

Step 7Fill with mixture of sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Step 8Dot each with teaspoon of butter.

Step 9Bring points of pastry up over apple and overlap.

Step 10Place in a baking pan separated slightly and pour one cup of the hot syrup mixture around dumplings.

Step 11Bake at 425 degrees for 45 minutes.

Step 12Just before serving pour rest of warm syrup over dumplings and serve with the ice cream.

Step 13Variation: Peach Dumplings: use 3 large peaches, peeled and pitted (in place of apples).

Step 14Put peach half on center of each square and proceed as for apple dumplings above.
