I made this apple crisp for dessert the other night and it was DELICIOUS! I loved how the aroma of fall filled my home while it was baking. The only thing wrong with this recipe.......it doesn't last long! :( Apples and cinnamon and nutmeg, OH MY!

It's a very simple crisp that lets the natural flavor of the apples shine. The topping is buttery with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Mixed with the apples, it's fabulous. Top with vanilla ice cream and this is the perfect dessert for the apple lover.
Grease bottom and sides of an 8-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray.
Spread apples in the pan.
In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Cut in margarine or butter until crumbly.
Sprinkle over apples. Bake about 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
