2/3 c
all purpose flour
1/2 tsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp
1/2 c
vegetable shortening
1/2 c
apple butter
1/2 c
dark brown sugar
1 large
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1 Tbsp
warm water
1 c
rolled oats
1 c
flaked coconut

How to Make Apple Butter-Oatmeal Bars


  • 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 X 13 inch pan. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. In a large bowl, cream the vegetable shortening, apple butter, and brown sugar. Beat in the egg.
  • 2Dissolve the baking soda in the warm water and add to the creamed mixture, beating until smooth. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. fold in the oats and coconut.
  • 3Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting.
