Ingredients
- 2/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1/2 cup apple butter
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon warm water
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup flaked coconut
How To Make apple butter-oatmeal bars

Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 X 13 inch pan. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. In a large bowl, cream the vegetable shortening, apple butter, and brown sugar. Beat in the egg.

Step 2Dissolve the baking soda in the warm water and add to the creamed mixture, beating until smooth. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. fold in the oats and coconut.

Step 3Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting.
