Velvet Custard Pie
1unbaked 9 inch pie shell
2 1/2 cmilk, 2%
3/4 cgranulated sugar
1 1/4 tsppure vanilla extract
·grated nutmeg sprinkled on top of pie
How to Make Velvet Custard Pie
- Preheat oven to 350. Set aside a 9 inch pie plate lined with an unbaked 9 inch pastry pie shell. In a small saucepan, scald milk over medium high heat then set it aside.
- In a larger mixer bowl, thoroughly beat the eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt together. Add 1 cup of the hot milk mixture slowly into the egg mixture. Add the rest of the milk and continue to beat slowly.
- Pour the custard into the pie shell and sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake on the lowest oven rack for 40 minutes or until the custard is set and lightly golden. Remove and let cool completely. Cover with foil & refrigerate any leftovers.
