You won't believe how delicious, easy, and inexpensive this dessert is! My Mom, Doris St. John got it from a newspaper many years ago. She has passed away, but along with many more great recipes she gave me, she left this this most excellent one.

    egg whites
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 c
  • 1 c
    walnuts (chopped)
  • 16
    finely crushed saltine crackers
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder

How to Make Soda Cracker Torte by Doris St. John


  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. 2. Beat egg whites and vanilla until foamy.
  3. 3. Gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating to stiff peaks.
  4. 4. Mix together nuts, crackers and baking powder.
  5. 5. Fold into egg whites.
  6. 6. Spread into greased 9 inch pie plate.
  7. 7. Bake about 40 minutes or until dry on outside.
  8. Slice like a pie. Serve warm or let cool.
  9. Delicious on its own, but may top with strawberries or other fruit and whipped cream. Enjoy!
