love pie the crust is so important ,I mix shortening with butter to make tender but flavorful crust.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/3 cup cold butter freeze
  • 1/3 cup solid shortening
  • 1/3 cup ice water
  • 1/4 cup flour for dusting

How To Make single pie crust

  • Step 1
    mix flour, salt, sugar.
  • Step 2
    GRATE butter ( MAKES IT EASIER TO MIX ) and add it with the shortening to flour. mix with hands until it forms a crumb like mixture.
  • Step 3
    add ONLY ENOUGH WATER A TABLESPOON AT A TIME ONLY TILL DOUGH HOLDS , form a ball then shape into disc wrap in saran wrap refrigerate at least 1 hr.
  • Step 4
    on a flour dusted counter roll dough starting from middle roll out and turn . form crust to pie dish , I prick mine a fork and freeze until firm. it is now ready to bake
