Something different to try. I had this at a friends hose over Thanksgiving, we did an International Day, it was very good! Hope you enjoy as well.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 - eggs
  • 3 - tart apples (goldrush, suncrisp, melrose, jonagold or honeycrisp)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla extract

How To Make sharlotka (russian apple pie)

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Step 2
    Combine flour, sugar, and eggs, baking soda & vanilla, beat well
  • Step 3
    Core the apples and cut them into thin slices
  • Step 4
    Grease a 9" pie pan or cake pan and dust it lightly with flour. You can also use a round of parchment paper on the bottom to ensure it comes out easy.
  • Step 5
    Arrange all apple slices on the bottom of the pan
  • Step 6
    Pour the batter mixture over the apples
  • Step 7
    Bake for 25 - 30 minutes, cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or cinamon or a combo of both once cooled.
  • Step 8
    May be served warm or at room temperature
