This is a recipe and directions that were given to me by a friend of mine who is an excellent baker.

Ingredients

3/4 c
vegetable shortening
1 Tbsp
milk
2 c
sifted flour
1/4 c
water, boiling
1 tsp
salt

How to Make Pie Pastry

Step-by-Step

  • 1put shortening in medium bowl. add water and milk. break up shortening with a fork. tilt bowl and beat with fork in quick across the bowl strokes until mixture is thick and holds soft peaks when fork is lifted.
  • 2sift flour and salt onto shortening mixture. with vigourous round the bowl strokes, stir quickly, forming a dough that clings together and cleans the bowl.
  • 3pick up the dough and work into a smooth, flat round, then divide in half and roll and cut for a 2 crust pie.
