This is a recipe and directions that were given to me by a friend of mine who is an excellent baker.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/4 cup water, boiling
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How To Make pie pastry

  • Step 1
    put shortening in medium bowl. add water and milk. break up shortening with a fork. tilt bowl and beat with fork in quick across the bowl strokes until mixture is thick and holds soft peaks when fork is lifted.
  • Step 2
    sift flour and salt onto shortening mixture. with vigourous round the bowl strokes, stir quickly, forming a dough that clings together and cleans the bowl.
  • Step 3
    pick up the dough and work into a smooth, flat round, then divide in half and roll and cut for a 2 crust pie.
