3/4 cvegetable shortening
2 csifted flour
1/4 cwater, boiling
How to Make Pie Pastry
- put shortening in medium bowl. add water and milk. break up shortening with a fork. tilt bowl and beat with fork in quick across the bowl strokes until mixture is thick and holds soft peaks when fork is lifted.
- sift flour and salt onto shortening mixture. with vigourous round the bowl strokes, stir quickly, forming a dough that clings together and cleans the bowl.
- pick up the dough and work into a smooth, flat round, then divide in half and roll and cut for a 2 crust pie.
