My dad's mom always used this recipe for light, flaky pie crust every time.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 7 to 10 teaspoons ice cold water

How To Make granny's never fail pie crust

  • Step 1
    Mix flour and salt, cut in shortening until texture of cornmeal. In separate bowl, mix egg, vinegar and water. Add liquid to flour mixture. Toss gently with fork.
  • Step 2
    Divide dough into thirds. Form in balls and roll out on lightly floured surface. Bake according to recipe. For a single crust back 12 to 15 minutes at 400 degreese
  • Step 3
    If not using all crust at once, wrap dough in plastic wrap and store in refrigerator for up to a week. let dough reach room temperature before rolling out.
