This recipe was from my cousin-in-law, who is a wonderful country cook. She has lived on farms, her whole life. They ran a dairy & grew tobacco, for their income. And, also always had a garden, like most farm folks do. Eventually, my mom made pies like this too. And, a great-aunt of ours.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 stick butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons corn meal
  • 3/4 cup 2% milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 2 small unbaked pie crusts

How To Make brown sugar chess pie

  • Step 1
    Mix ingredients in the order given. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30-40 minutes. Lower heat to 325 degrees F, after pie has started cooking. Makes 2 small pies.
