Bake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • pinch
    ginger
  • pinch
    nutmeg
  • 7-9 c
    thinly sliced pared apples
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • ·
    pastry for double crust pie
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter or margarine
  • 1
    egg white
  • ·
    additional sugar

How to Make Apple Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. In a small bowl, combine sugars, flour & spices; set aside. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add sugar mixture - toss well to coat. Line a 9" pie pan with half of the pastry. Place apple filling into crust; dot with butter. Put remaining pastry crust on top.
  2. Bake at 375 for 35 minutes, increase temp to 400 and bake for 10-15 minutes more.
