I was given this recipe from an old Amish neighbor...she always shared her yummy recipes with me, and I was always glad to receive them...enjoy!

yield 1 - 9 inch deep dish pie

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sugar - (i always add an extra 1/2 tablespoon )
  • 2 teaspoons all purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 - unbaked pie shell i cheated and used store bought - never again...lol

How To Make amish custard pie

  • Step 1
    Combine sugar, flour, salt and eggs, vanilla and mix until smooth.
  • Step 2
    Heat milk to boiling point. Add 1 cup hot milk to egg mixture. Pour that into the remaining hot milk.
  • Step 3
    Pour into unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle pie with nutmeg. Sometimes I use cinnamon.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350 degrees F. for 45-60 minutes.
