How to Make Rolled Baklava

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven to 350. Mix all syrup ingredients. in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20 min. remove from heat and let stand at room temp.
  2. melt butter and add oil. I leave the milk part of the butter at the bottom and don't use it. (clarified Butter)
  3. put nuts and sugar, cinnamon in a food processor till fine. Set aside. take a wooden dowel ( I got mine from the hardware store, wash it and oil it)
  4. Lay out one phyllo sheet and brush it with the melted butter/oil and place another sheet ontop. Brush the second sheet and sprinkle out nuts on it. Take the wooden roller and roll the sheets onto it and then slide them into a greased pan. Brush each one with more butter
Bake till golden. let cool completely before pouring syrup on.
    Optional to drizzle with chocolate.....
