Dulce de Leche in a can
DON'T LET AIR TOUCH THE HOT CAN. LEAVE IT IN THE WATER UNTIL IT IS COOL (OVERNIGHT).
How to Make Dulce de Leche in a can
- Place can of milk in deep pan and cover with several inches of water. Cover.
- Bring water to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 90 minutes for thin caramel up to 3 hours for really thick caramel. Add water as needed so that water always covers the can.
- Leave can in water and let cool overnight. DON'T TAKE THE CAN OUT OF THE WATER UNTIL IT IS COOL.
- You can store it in the unopened can up to a year at room temperature.
