I once had chocolate eggnog from the store, but I could never find it again. I often thought of that eggnog around Christmastime. This year, I took matters into my own hands. I whipped up a fresh batch and opted for dark chocolate.

This one is even better than the store bought. I used organic ingredients, but it isn't necessary. Pinch this recipe, and I guarantee a new family favorite.

sugar

cinnamon

heavy cream

dark chocolate cocoa powder

vanilla

rum, optional

brandy, optional

How to Make Cuisiniere Bannworth's Dark Chocolate Eggnog

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a saucepan, heat vanilla, 1/2 c milk, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips on low. Whisk continually until chocolate is totally melted and combined. Set aside to cool.
  • 2Take 12 yolks and add sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Beat until creamy.
  • 3Add milk, cream, and vanilla. Continue to beat for 3 minutes.
  • 4Stir in cooled chocolate mixture.
  • 5Optionally add rum and brandy. Tailor to your taste.
