  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    fresh blackberries
  • ·
    confectioners' sugar, sifted

How to Make Blackberry Bars


  1. Combine the flour and brown sugar.
  2. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Press 1 1/3 cups of the mixture into an ungreased 8-inch pan.
  4. Combine the remaining crumb mixture, sour cream, egg, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla extract, and blend well.
  5. Stir in the blackberries, and spoon over the crust.
  6. Spread evenly.
  7. Bake at 350F for 35 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
