  • 1 cup room temperature,butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar

How To Make basic buttercream

  • Step 1
    Place the butter in a stand mixer and let it beat for 2-3 minutes on medium speed.
  • Step 2
    Add flavorings, such as extracts or cocoa,and beat again.
  • Step 3
    Slowly add powdered sugar until the buttercream reaches the desired consistency.
  • Step 4
    If it becomes too thick, add a little milk to thin it out.
