Ingredients

  • 1 can (14-ounce) nonfat sweetened condensed milk
  • 8 ounces light cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen chopped strawberries
  • 1/4 cup cocoa nibs (see note) or mini chocolate chips

How To Make strawberry and chocolate bits ice cream

  • Step 1
Mix together the condensed milk and light cream 1/2 cup of sugar and vanilla. Stir well to help dissolve the sugar. At this point taste for sweetness and add more if needed. Remember that ice cream will taste less sweet after freezing.
  • Step 2
Place the bowl (covered) in the refrigerator or freezer until well chilled. If using the freezer check frequently and stir frozen edges back into the mix (you shouldn't need more than 45 mins or an hr max)
  • Step 3
When chilled pour the mix into the ice cream maker and set the times if your machine has one.
  • Step 4
During the last 5 minutes of freezing, add strawberries and cocoa nibs (or chocolate chips) to the ice cream maker. It's ready for soft serve now OR place the ice cream in the freezer to ripen before serving.
  • Step 5
NOTE: cocoa nibs, which are bits of roasted and hulled cocoa beans, are crunchy, and have a pure (unsweetened) chocolate taste. some brands of nibs are coarser than others. they are also extremely hard
