Every time I think of ice cream made in an ice cream churn, I think of 4th of July :-) I also remember my father and uncle sitting on MaMa's porch churning ice cream with a hand crank churn, glad it wasn't me! I love modern technology!!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • - whole milk or half and half to add to fill line
  • - rock salt
  • - bag of ice
  • 1 cup fruit of choice (optional)-chopped

How To Make home made vanilla ice cream (fruit optional)

  • Step 1
    Cream the sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add the evaporated milk. Mix well. Pour into ice cream churn. Add Milk to fill line. Churn the ice cream .
  • Step 2
    *****Note--if adding fruit of choice, increase sugar to 2 cups and blend fruit into the mixture before pouring into ice cream churn. Then add milk to fill line*** I myself love some peach ice cream :-) It is so refreshing!!
